Summary: Carly's daddy is a drunk this was inspired my the song 'Walk a little straighter, daddy' by Billy Currington

	Carly's daddy

What if Carly grew up with her dad and he was an alcoholic. This is just because I wanted to use the song 'Walk a little straighter daddy' by Billy Currington

* * *

>
I remember looking up
To look up to him
>And I remember most the time
He wasn't there
>I'd be waiting at the door
When he got home at night
>He'd pass me by to go to pass out in his chair

5 year old, Carly waited for her daddy to come home so he could tuck her in, but when he came home he just walked past her to go sleep in his chair. Carly looked at him with sad eyes hoping he would awaken to tuck her in, but atlas no such luck. Carly then trudged sadly up the stairs to tuck herself in, which was something she was used to but she thought tonight would be different.

And I'd say
>Walk a little straighter daddy
You're swaying side to side
>You're footsteps make me dizzy
And no matter how I try
>I keep tripping and stumbling
If you'd look down here you'd see
>Walk a little straighter daddy
You're leading me

The next day, Carly watched her daddy walk to the kitchen to get a drink as she sat playing with her dolls. She then heard her stomach growl and remembered she was hungry. Little Carly decided to walk behind her daddy to the kitchen, but no matter how hard she tried the swaying her daddy was doing made her dizzy and she would trip and stumble.

Carly: Daddy, walk a little straighter please. You're swaying side to side and your footsteps make me dizzy.

Her daddy didn't even hear her and continued to sway from side to side. For the first time in Carly's life she wished that she lived with her older brother, Spencer, who moved out when he turned 18 a few months ago. Whenever Spencer came to visit he played with her and he loved her so much, and she loved him back.

He stumbled in the gym
>On graduation day
And I couldn't help but feel
>So ashamed
And I wasn't surprised a bit
>When he didn't stay
He stumbled out before they called my name

Carly just graduated high-school and was hoping her daddy would show up, which he did but he left before they called her name. Carly was ashamed because her daddy was drunk as always and was swaying from side to side.

And I thought
>Walk a little straighter daddy
You're swaying side to side
>It's not just me who's watching
you've caught everybody's eye
>And you're tripping and stumbling
and even though I've turned 18
>Walk a little straighter daddy
You're still leading me

Even though Carly is 18 years old now, she still looks up to her daddy for guidance.

The old man still like he always was
>But I love him anyway
If I've learned one thing from him
>Its my kids will never have to say

Carly moved out after graduation even though she still loves her daddy. 5 years later, Carly is getting married today, and she asks her brother, Spencer to walk her down the aisle, knowing her daddy will be to drunk to do so. Today is also the day that she decides her kids will never have to say "Walk a little straighter, mommy, you're swaying side to side. You're footsteps make me dizzy and no matter how I try, I keep tripping and stumbling, so walk a little straighter, mommy, you're leading me."

End file.
